Assessment/Competence Pathway

Participants will be required to successfully pass Theory Assessment, On Job Workbooks completed in-field and Final Assessment, per unit to achieve competency.

The journey to becoming a qualified Track Examiner/Certifier is undertaken in stages, often referred to as ‘blended delivery’ via the following methods:

Stage 1: Theory Training

This is classroom-based theory training, where you will learn the theory-based fundamentals of the above units. Depending on your industry experience and knowledge, this could take five (5) to six (6) business days to complete. You will complete Theory Assessment, per level, and if successful, issued On Job Workbooks, per unit, to be completed in-field, under supervision by a qualified Subject Matter Expert.

Stage 2: On Job Workbooks/In-field experience

Each unit has an individual On Job Workbook that must be completed in-field/on-site, under the supervision of a qualified Subject Matter Expert who holds that specific unit of competency. You will be asked to provide a substantial amount of supporting evidence for each unit, which can include completed documentation/forms, videos and photographs. You have twelve (12) months to complete this training. Upon completion of the On Job Workbooks, SCCRT will validate all Workbooks and required supporting evidence before the student undertaking Final Assessment.

Stage 3: Final Assessment

This is conducted in-field, one-on-one with a qualified SCCRT Trainer and Assessor. This can take one (1) to two (2) business days to complete.

Completion

& Recertification

On completion, a Statement of Attainment will be issued recognising competence in the following units:

TLIB3094 Check and repair track geometry
  TLIB3099 Examine track infrastructure
  TLIB3100 Visually inspect track infrastructure
TLIB3095 Check and repair points and crossings

If the course is conducted for the ARTC Network, upon successful completion, the student will also receive a Certificate of Achievement for the role of an ARTC Track Examiner/Certifier specific to the ARTC Network only.

Due to the safety-critical nature of a Track Certifier/Examiner role, you will need to undertake a recertification specific to the Network you are qualified in, every two (2) years, to ensure currency.
